Top 20 songs
March 12, 2025
I’m in the process of writing two extremely detailed posts, because one just isn’t enough. In the meantime, I’ve been listening to some great music I want to share, in case anyone (like myself) needs to detox from daily updates of our republic.
Adagio: Σtella
Metaverse: Cage the Elephant
Messy: Lola Young
TTYLSOS: DWLLERS
Basic Being Basic: Djo
So Cold: Balu Brigada
Billy (Yeah Yeah Yeah): Inhaler
Billboard Heart: Deep Sea Diver
Sailor Song: Gigi Perez
Moonlit Floor (Kiss Me): Lisa
I’m in Love: Jelani Aryeh
Worm in the Sun: Alexsucks
Lady Parts and Mannequins: mehro
Somebody’s Son: Empire of the Sun (featuring Lindsey Buckingham)
Mega Circuit: Japanese Breakfast
Why on Fire?: Matt Berry, Eric D. Johnson
Birds of a Feather: Billie Eilish
It’s Amazing to be Young: Fontaines D.C.
Two Times: Blondshell
Drown My Fear: The Rifles
A few thoughts:
I’ve decided to only include one song per artist, even though I’m listening to a BUNCH of songs from a few of these artists (hello, Alexsucks! and Fontaines DC)
I also tried to limit my list to songs that were released in 2025 OR are still on the charts.
If you like the song above by Σtella, I recommend a deep dive. There’s some great stuff there.
Most who read this would likely know a song by Empire of the Sun, but how exactly did that conversation go when they recruited Lindsey? I’ve wondered about that as well for the Bombay Bicycle Club reaching out to Chaka Khan.
For your listening pleasure…until I’m back with another post.
